Acres environment committee to meet

The Henlopen Acres Environmental Approval Committee will meet at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13, in town hall, 104 Tidewaters. 

The agenda includes a discussion of proposed amendments to town code related to trees, and their application to plan submissions under the current moratorium for protected canopy tree removal.

Lewes planners to meet Aug. 13

The Lewes Planning Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Rollins Center.

The agenda includes discussion, public comment and possible recommendations to mayor and council regarding property owners required to live in one dwelling as part of an accessory dwelling unit. 

Rehoboth meeting slated for Aug. 15

Rehoboth Beach commissioners will meet at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 15, at city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. 

The agenda calls for consideration of matters pertaining to City Manager Taylour Tedder, including ratification of his hiring and his contract, consideration of an acknowledgement that Tedder has performed his obligations under the contract, and consideration of potentially reclassifying the city manager in title only for the period May 15, 2024, through Aug. 15, 2025. 

The agenda also includes consideration of an ordinance to amend code relating to full-time employee health insurance plan coverage, and consideration of sunsetting the communications committee and the parking garage task force.

Cooperative Extension Walk With Ease registration due Aug. 20

University of Delaware Cooperative Extension offers physical activity programs including the Walk With Ease program, an introductory-level, basic fitness program that provides guidance to begin and maintain a successful walking program. It was created by experts at the Arthritis Foundation, and program topics will include exercising safely and comfortably, improving flexibility and building strength, and reducing pain. The Walk With Ease six-week program is available in two formats. The Zoom series is a 45-minute, live, educational group session that meets at 12 p.m, Tuesdays. The email series offers weekly self-guided sessions. 

The fall series meets Tuesdays, Sept. 2 to Oct. 7. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 20.

The winter series meets Tuesdays, Oct. 14 to Nov. 18, and registration closes Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Multiple myeloma group to meet online Aug. 20

The Delaware Multiple Myeloma Support Group will meet from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, online via Zoom.
