Cape school board meets Sept. 12

The Cape Henlopen school board will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12 at Rehoboth Elementary. 

The board may vote on policies regarding Title IX/OCR compliance procedures, student rights and internet safety measures, and will discuss the unit count and class size waiver.

Dewey planning commission to meet

The Dewey Beach planning and zoning commission will meet at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. A public hearing and possible vote will be held on a recommendation to town c council regarding changing the freeboard requirement. KSI achieves continued CARF accreditation

KSI announced it recently earned another three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, as it has done continuously since 1982. CARF sets very rigorous international standards and promotes best practices for organizations that provide health and human services.

KSI is a nonprofit agency that provides vocational training, employment, community integration, transportation, day habilitation, life enrichment and nutritional services to individuals with disabilities throughout Sussex and Kent counties.

CARF surveyors spent two days at KSI reviewing its practices, programs and procedures, talking with staff and interacting with the community about KSI’s quality services. The staff at KSI works year-round to ensure quality standards are being met. CARF surveyors listed KSI’s person-centered programming among its strengths. They also shared that participants, families, guardians, funders, referral sources and other stakeholders expressed high levels of satisfaction with and appreciation for the organization and its staff members.
