Peaceful rally to protest uncontrolled growth March 10
A peaceful protest rally is set for 2 to 4 p.m., Thursday, March 10, in front of the Sussex County Administrative Offices building at 2 The Circle in Georgetown.
This is an opportunity for people to make it known they are upset with the amount of uncontrolled growth in Sussex County that is clogging the roads, making the area more vulnerable to flooding, and polluting the waterways.
Attendees can add their voices to those of the Concerned Citizens of Sussex County members, along with members of Sussex2030 and other local groups that are participating to make sure county council and county commissioners know of their disapproval.
The Georgetown town manager has given permission for the protest in front of the building where Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission will meet at 5 p.m., March 10, to announce their decisions on several subdivisions, including Coral Lakes and East Gate. Both proposals include clear-cutting forests and plowing over wetlands. Coral Lakes, if approved, will add another 315 homes to the overwhelming construction already taking place along Robinsonville Road.
Concerned community members are invited to make their own signs or banners, and encourage neighbors, friends and family to attend and be a part of something that is too big to be ignored.
