Play ball!

March 18, 2022

The Philadelphia Phillies have tried to improve their offensive production by acquiring first baseman/DH Kyle Schwarber who has played for multiple teams. He was on the 2016 Chicago Cubs who won the World Series, and he is also played for the Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals. He is quite good at hitting, but a questionable defensive player. We also got some good news in our division. Freddy Freeman is no longer an Atlanta Brave. He has crushed the Phillies during his career. He has moved to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Braves replaced him with Matt Olson from The Oakland Athletics. I have never seen Olson play because of being on the West Coast, but he is supposed to be really good.

I was correct with my prediction of a Monday finish at the Players Golf Championship. They received almost 5 inches of rain on Thursday and Friday so it took until Saturday morning to finish the first round. Cameron Smith, from Australia won the tournament by one shot over Anirban Lahiri from India. This was not surprising because Cameron Smith has played well over the last two years. He won the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii to start this year. This was an emotional victory for him because his mother was able to attend. He hadn't seen his mother for two years because of the restrictions from Covid in Australia. I hope next year the weather conditions are more normal so the tournament is less disjointed.

Enjoy March Madness for both the men and women over the next few weeks.
