Primeros Pasos dinner dance supports early learning center

Primeros Pasos Early Learning Center of Georgetown held its Stepping Out for Primeros Pasos dinner and dance Oct. 21 at the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown. The event featured dinner, live music by the Hot Sauce Band, dancing, and silent and live auctions.
Primeros Pasos Early Learning Center provides exemplary education in a culturally diverse environment for all children in need. Its 5,000-square-foot facility serves 65 children ages 8 weeks to 12 years, primarily from throughout Sussex County.
Through generous community support, the center continues to grow and make a difference in the local community. The program is designed to promote children’s development, and enable their parents to fulfill their proper roles and help the family move toward self-sufficiency.
The program promotes physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children through safe and developmentally enriching caregiving and education. Primeros Pasos also has a partnership with Early Head Start and the Delaware state-funded Early Childhood Assistance Program to assist families in meeting their own personal goals and achieving independence across a wide variety of domains, such as housing stability, continued education and financial security.
Primeros Pasos emphasizes the importance of consistent, systemic and fair access to comprehensive services and systems for everyone, including chronically underserved populations.
Organizers extend thanks to all who attended and donated, and to to this year’s sponsors: Community Bank Delaware, Community Matters Foundation, Freeman Foundation, I.G. Burton, Janosik Charitable Foundation, Seaside Amusements and Short Funeral Home.
Primeros Pasos continues to accept monetary and material donations needed to run such a great program. For more information and to donate, go to primerospasosde.org.
