Rehoboth Art League winter exhibit to open at City Hall Jan. 22

January 15, 2020

Rehoboth Beach City Hall will host the opening reception for the Rehoboth Art League’s Seasons: Winter exhibition, from 5 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22.

This year’s juried exhibition series showcased at city hall will represent the four distinct times of year along with scenes, events or activities associated with each of the four seasons.

The seasons are a universal reminder of the passage of time and life’s cyclical nature. Seasonal changes have always been favorite allegorical vessels for artists, whether the work is deeply personal or simply capturing their transitioning surroundings.

Winter, the first showcase, will run through Sunday, April 19. Winter can be a time of contemplation and reflection, home and hearth, cold temperatures and warm clothing, and the gentle falling of snow.

The juror for this exhibition is Le Rowell, an independent curator and speaker with more than 30 years of experience curating exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad. She specializes in fiber art, and her exhibition Quilts: A Cultural Dialogue showcased American-influenced art quilts for Luxembourg’s 1995 year as Cultural Capital of Europe. Assembling art collections for three U.S. embassies contributed to her belief that art builds bridges of friendship and understanding worldwide.
