Revelation set to reopen at Hudson Fields
Revelation Craft Brewing will be reopening its popular Hudson Fields beer garden at 4 p.m., Friday, April 29, and the Rehoboth Beach brewery has big plans in store.
Revelation plans more events and a longer schedule, keeping the garden open through the fall.
The grand reopening will include 12 food trucks and four dessert trucks, with proceeds from sales going to the Beebe Medical Foundation.
Revelation founder Patrick Staggs said, “Hudson Fields has been an amazing venue for us. It really has been the ultimate venue through COVID because it’s outside.”
Once the beer garden reopens, Revelation is set to host its biggest event yet, the Rally For First Responders, set for Sunday, May 15, from 12 to 6 p.m. The event will take up 10 acres on Hudson Fields and feature 17 food trucks, 45 vendors, five live bands, first responder speakers, self-defense classes, ax throwing, K-9 demonstrations, first responder vehicles and the Delaware State Police helicopter. Also included are both of Revelation’s beer trucks, which will feature Copper Ale, an Irish red ale brewed for the event. Tickets are $15 per person in advance and $20 at the door; Revelation’s Kyle Shaffer said VIP tickets are available for $65, which include seats in front of the stage, a private-access bathroom and beer tickets.
“I’m creating a little circus out there,” she said.
Shaffer said the event came about after the death of Delmar police Cpl. Keith Heacook in April 2021. The plan is to make the event an annual affair honoring different first responders each year. Proceeds from the event will go to police, fire and rescue organizations local and statewide.
Staggs said, “Kyle was super organized with this. People are thankful to be a part of it and we’re clearly pumped about it.”
Besides the rally, this summer at Hudson Fields will also include five Thankful Thursday events starting Thursday, May 19. Each Thankful Thursday raises money for a specific nonprofit, which this year includes Blood Bank of Delaware, the Parkinson’s Education and Support Group of Sussex County and Cape Community Fund. Friday and Saturday nights will have live music every night.
On the horizon for Revelation is the opening of its new brewery in Georgetown. Revelation, which will continue to operate its Rehoboth brewery, purchased the former 16 Mile brewery in 2018, but the facility needed extensive upgrades, including remodeling and a new boiler, among other items.
“The two questions people always ask me are, one, how is your family? And the other is, when is Georgetown opening?” Staggs said.
He said the brewery is very close to opening, with the brewery side just about ready to go. The plan is to begin working test batches within the next two weeks and start brewing in May. Staggs said once beer starts being made, renovations to the tasting room will be completed so serving can begin right away. He said the hope is the brewery will be open this summer.
