The Delmarva Christian girls’ soccer squad fell to Indian River 8-1 March 30 at Sandhill Fields in Georgetown. The Royals defeated Holly Grove Christian School 8-5 in opening-day action. The Indians move to 3-0.

Royals junior goalkeeper Tori Royster stopped six of 14 shots in the match.

Indians freshman Caroline Williamson, senior Ella Peterson and senior Allison Tucker each scored twice, while junior Gianna Ragone and senior Reece Forrey hit the twine once.

Tucker and Rosalia Castrejon Galvez were credited with assists.

Delmarva Christian freshman Anaiah Mulhern scored the lone goal for the Royals unassisted in the last minute of the match.

“Although we struggled to hold strong possession of the ball, we had moments where we were able to pull together forward progression and press an attack,” said Royals coach Curtis Jones. “I felt we held the center of the field with senior Alyse Potter, junior Maddy Taylor and freshman Ananiah Mulhern who picked up her fifth goal of the season.”

In the win over Holly Grove March 28, Mulhern scored four goals, while Elliott and Alyse Potter each scored two.

Madeline Taylor and Potter tallied the assists.

Royster had three saves in the Royals’ cage.

The Royals host the Blue Raiders of Woodbridge Thursday, April 2, at Sandhill Fields.
