Ruby Tuesday closes Rehoboth Beach location

September 4, 2019

Despite a prominent banner saying “Now Hiring,” the Rehoboth Beach Ruby Tuesday restaurant shut its doors for good Sept. 3.

A note attached to the main entrance says, “This Ruby Tuesday location is closed. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused you and look forward to serving you in one of our other restaurants soon.”

The Rehoboth location was also removed from the company’s website. The closest locations to Rehoboth Beach listed on the website are in Milford and Salisbury, Md.

The company was founded in 1972 and is headquartered in Maryville, Tenn.

No one from the corporate office would comment on why the restaurant was closed, and whether it will reopen. Corporate also would not comment on the number of employees laid off at the eatery.

“At Ruby Tuesday, we greatly appreciate and value our neighborhood guests and employees,” a statement from the corporate office read. “While it is never an easy decision to close restaurants, the closures are a necessary step as we focus on executing on our long term growth strategy and building a stronger business for the future. We appreciate the communities that have supported us, please visit rubytuesday.com for a list of our locations.”

The closure comes just over a month after another major restaurant chain closed its local store. On July 17, TGI Fridays in the Safeway shopping center just north of Ruby Tuesday permanently closed its doors.
