Rusty Rudder reunion expected to draw crowd Oct. 21-22

September 20, 2011

The first Rusty Rudder reunion - which includes past employees and friends from the Rudder, The Lighthouse and Ruddertowne - will take place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22.  A chance to share reminiscences of good times had by all, the event will also raise money for Ronald McDonald House of Wilmington.

The weekend starts off Friday night at the Taco Toss in the Lighthouse with DJ Chris Mal. Later that night Love Seed Mama Jump will be playing in the Rudder lounge. There is no cover charge.

On Saturday for anyone making a day of it, the Rusty Rudder and Lighthouse will be open as usual for lunch and football. The Reunion Party will start at 6 p.m. in the Cove Restaurant. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served and there will be a cash bar. A few speeches will be made, there will be a silent auction, and everyone is invited to bring their photos and Rudder memorabilia. It will also be a time to celebrate and honor beloved friend Tim Ringhoffer, a fixture behind the bar from day one and character everyone knew and loved, who passed away this year. The Funsters will take to the stage at 9:30 p.m.

Tax deductible contributions will be collected and they hope to raise enough money to sponsor a room at the Ronald McDonald House in the Rudder Reunion name in honor of Tim. Tickets for the party are $25 in advance and $35 after Saturday, Oct. 15. Contributions to The Ronald McDonald House of any amount would be appreciated. but are not required. Everyone is encouraged to send in money as soon as possible so can have an idea of how many people are coming.
