Sandra M. Jones, heart made of gold
On Monday, July 12, 2021, Sandra M. Jones, loving wife of Gregory Pettyjohn, mother of Jalissa and Latericka Jones, passed away at the tender age of 54. Sandra was born Sept. 26, 1966, in Lewes to her mother Reesena and her late father Samuel Jones. Sandra graduated from Indian River High School, class of 1984 and continued her education and basketball career at Delaware State University. She worked as a CNA for over 21 years and her final place of employment, Chimes in Millsboro. Sandra was very passionate about her family and loved each one of them wholeheartedly. Sandra never missed a family gathering, where she was the life of the party, singing and dancing in the middle of the floor. She was well known for her loud mouth, big smile, and a heart made of gold, and her life’s motto was live and let live.
Sandra, lovingly known as Sank, was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Jones; paternal and maternal grandparents; three sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her husband, Gregory Pettyjohn; daughters Jalissa and Latericka Jones; brothers Bryan and Durron Jones (Tina) and sister Carolyn Jones/Bradley (Brian); and the strongest, most phenomenal mother we know, Reesena Jones; her grandchildren whom she adored, NaRiaha, NaKayla and Jada; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews, along with a few very close friends.
