Apply by March 31 for Lord Baltimore Women’s Club scholarshi

The Lord Baltimore Women’s Club of Ocean View welcomes high school seniors living in the Indian River School District to apply for its 2022 scholarships. The application deadline is Thursday, March 31. The scholarship program is open to qualifying seniors who attend Indian River, Sussex Central or Sussex Technical high schools. Applications must meet the required criteria to be considered. Interested students can contact their high school guidance departments at their high schools for details on how to apply. Candidates will be evaluated on their academic qualifications, extracurricular activities, community service, employment experience and financial need. Scholarship winners will be notified on or around Monday, May 16. 

John Dickinson history papers due April 1

The Friends of John Dickinson Mansion is offering a $250 scholarship for the best student paper or project on the Delaware patriot’s life, ideals and achievements.

The paper or project must be entered in the 2022 National History Day in Delaware contest, whose theme is Debate & Diplomacy in History: Success, Failure, Consequences. 

The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 1. Contest judging will be held Saturday, April 30, at Newark High School. The Delaware Historical Society sponsors the annual History Day competition.

John Dickinson, known as the Penman of the Revolution, played a crucial role in America’s push for freedom, from the Stamp Act in 1765 to the Constitutional Convention in 1787. He was an important advocate of liberty for all people. He fought for the abolition of slavery, and for freedom of the press and freedom of religion for all. Milton Garden Club scholarship applications due April 1

Applications for the 2022 Milton Garden Club scholarships are due Friday, April 1.

A high school scholarship in the amount of $3,000 is available for Sussex County high school students residing in the county pursuing postsecondary education in the fields of landscape or ornamental horticulture, plant science, agribusiness or similar related fields. Application packages can be obtained from school guidance offices or by going to the Milton Garden Club website at themiltongardenclub.org.

A postsecondary student scholarship in the amount of $3,000 is available for full-time Sussex County residents attending colleges or universities in Delaware. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in the fields of agriculture and natural resources including horticulture, plant science, agribusiness or similar related fields. Scholarship applications due to Zwaanendael Club April 1

The GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club is now accepting scholarship applications from Cape Henlopen High School graduating seniors who will be continuing their education at a college or a vocational technical school. The recipient of this annual $2,000 scholarship will be chosen from applicants who are in good academic standing. Applications are due by Friday, April 1 and the winner will be announced in June.

The GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club, a member of the General Federation of Women’s Club, is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation whose members are public-spirited women serving and improving our community. This scholarship is awarded through the club’s education and libraries community service program.

Women’s Club of Milton scholarship entries due April 6

The Women’s Club of Milton will award three $2,000 scholarships to eligible high school senior women in the local area. Applicants  must be female college-bound students with academic achievement of at least a 3.0 GPA, and participation in extracurricular activities as well as community or faith-related service. Student must reside in the 19941, 19951, 19960, or 19968 ZIP code area. Scholarship applications may be obtained by contacting the guidance counselor at Cape Henlopen, Sussex Academy and Delmarva Christian high schools.  Applications are due in the guidance counselor offices no later than Wednesday, April 6. All applications will be reviewed by the Women’s Club of Milton scholarship committee, and award winners will be announced at their school’s senior awards ceremonies, or as directed by COVID guidelines. 

Scholarship funding is provided through the club’s fundraising events such as the Holiday House Tour, Holly Festival Bake Sale,  50/50 sales and more.

Nursing scholarship applications due April 13

Cape Henlopen High School seniors pursuing careers in nursing are eligible to apply for the Andrea Chomo Smith Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Applications are due by Wednesday, April 13.  Awarded annually since 2019, this scholarship honors the memory of a dedicated professional who began as an Army nurse serving in Vietnam and went on to positions in pediatric, mental health, hospice and trauma care nursing. Applications for this scholarship are available from the Cape High Guidance Office.

Healthcare student scholarships applications due April 15

The Delaware Institute for Healthcare Education Advancement Inc. will award 11 scholarships of $100 each for non-tuition related expenses for students enrolled in a healthcare program in fall of 2022. DIHEA scholarships will help fund gas money to clinical sites, fees for testing and background checks, clinical supplies or uniforms. The application closes Friday, April 15. Diversity in Engineering scholarship closes April 18

The Diversity in Engineering Scholarship aims to encourage women from underrepresented communities to pursue software engineering studies and achieve their academic and career goals. Two female students who are currently enrolled, or planning on studying STEM, will each be awarded a $5,000 scholarship. Applications are open online at prisma.io/scholarship until April 18. 

Lewes Fire Department scholarship applications due April 21

The Lewes Fire Department annually awards a scholarship to a high school senior who will be continuing to study at an institution of higher learning. The scholarship will be awarded to an applicant residing within the Lewes Fire District.  A map depicting the LFD fire district is included within the application at lewesfire.com. The scholarship is a one-time only award, good for the first year of the student’s attendance at an institution of higher learning of their choice in the amount of $1,500. In case of a two-way tie, the amount will be divided, $750 per applicant. Packets may be emailed to LFDScholarship@lewesfire.com or mailed to the Lewes Fire Department, ATTN: Scholarship, P.O. Box 225, Lewes, DE 19958. Packets received after midnight, Thursday, April 21, will not be considered.

MLK organization scholarship applications due April 30

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Organization Sussex County Inc. is accepting scholarship applications from graduating high school students in Sussex County. The scholarship was established to help support local students who are sincerely interested in perpetuating and nurturing Dr. King’s legacy, vision and dream, and the celebration of the only U.S. holiday named in honor or memory of an African American. Eligible students must also intend to pursue higher education at a traditional four-year college or university, a two-year community college, a trade or vocational school, or other higher education approved by the organization. Sunshine Circle Club scholarship applications due April 30
