Sea Cycle Indoor owner Ellen Spell said she’s thankful no one was inside her studio when a car crashed through the front wall Aug. 28.
Located in the Tenley Court Shopping Center off Route 1 outside Lewes, the crash caused major damage. Luckily, the car didn’t hit any structural supports, she said.
Spell said they had to suspend classes, but they were back up and running within 10 days. Full repair and renovation work took longer though, she said.
With all work complete, the business celebrated a grand reopening Oct. 4-6. The date coincides with the fourth anniversary of Spell’s sister business Sea Barre Fitness, which shares the space with Sea Cycle Indoor. “This is a community studio,” she said. “Everyone here becomes family, and it’s way better to workout with friends. It’s much more motivating.”
Spell describes barre as physical therapy on steroids. “It’s fantastic for all fitness levels and all ages,” she said.
The cycling is high intensity, but low impact. Spell says it’s like a dance party on a bike. “With a combination of the two workouts, you don’t need anything else,” she said.
