Shaka Shack reopens March 9 in Millville with new dining options

March 3, 2023

Shaka Shack in Millville will open for the new season Thursday, March 9, with some exciting changes and lots of familiar favorites. Shaka Shack was first opened Sept. 19, 2019, by Clay Reynolds.

Patrons can enjoy the brand-new addition with indoor seating and a new baking kitchen. Takeout will still be available from the original building. Shaka Shack’s menu will have some item changes while keeping the delicious favorites but also introduce the Dirty Shaka, a line of dirty sodas, once the addition opens.

Shaka Shack will continue to carry its delicious sweets and candy, but Madison Galbreath of Driftwood Desserts will be in charge of them this year. Galbreath trained in 2022 under Reynolds to master making the Smith Island cakes and other tasty treats. With the new baking kitchen, she will have the space and time to supply more restaurants and events with Smith Island cakes. In March, Shaka Shack will offer a Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow Cake, and for Easter, Shaka Shack will again offer hand-made Easter eggs and other holiday candies. Patrons will be able to order many more seasonal sweets all year through Driftwood Desserts’ new website www.driftwooddesserts.com.

Many of the recipes Reynolds is using were passed down from his grandparents. Reynolds sticks to traditional Eastern Shore cooking including all the main seafood staples like crab cakes, soft shell crabs, shrimp and fish, but also puts his own modern spin on many dishes, like his delicious fish and shrimp tacos and various wraps. Shaka Shack even has homemade doggy treats for patrons’ fur babies.

Shaka Shack offers delicious local fare from time-tested family recipes, at affordable prices for hungry surfers. Patrons can order takeout, eat in or dine outside at Shaka Shack’s picnic tables on a sandy, beach-like area. Customers can take selfies next to one of the custom-made decorative surfboards, and even play a game of cornhole while dining and sipping on their favorite smoothie. Shaka Shack’s Party Menu consists of larger-size quantities of items and some offerings not on the regular menu.

Shaka Shack offers daily specials which may be posted on Facebook, but patrons can call to see what’s available and order ahead to have items ready upon arrival. Online ordering can be done with the Clover app or via Door Dash. Curbside pickup is also available.

Shaka Shack opens at 11 a.m.  The address is 35308 Atlantic Ave., Millville, next to Prickly Gal Boutique and Surf Shop. For more information, call 302-604-0858 or visit the Shaka Shack pages on Facebook and Instagram.
