Sidelines: It can’t get much worse than this!

November 23, 2018

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles got crushed in a 48-7 romp by the New Orleans Saints. Considering what the playoff picture looks like, I was extremely surprised when the entire team did not show up to at least show a strong effort. I did not expect them to win the game, but I did expect it to be a lot closer than that mess we all had to watch.

In order for the Eagles to have any chance at all to make the playoffs, they will have to win the next two games against the New York Giants this week, and the Washington Redskins the following week. Even then, this is just to get back to a .500 record.

There was some unfortunate news for the 76ers this week. They are still having problems with the health of their number one pick from two years ago. Markelle Fultz is saying he has a shoulder injury. There are also rumors that he has a version of the shooting yips. You usually hear more on that issue in baseball or golf. I hope he figures it out soon in order to save his career as a 76er.

This is the time of year when local sports efforts are important to recognize. I want to send out a congratulations to the Cape Henlopen girls hockey team for winning another State Championship. They have won 7 of the last 8 championships. Wow!!

And one more congratulations is worth mentioning as well. The Cape boys soccer team made it to the first round of the playoffs. I hope they continue this good progress again next year. Can you tell I am a Cape alum?

It's now time for the holiday season to begin. Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all my readers.

See you on the sidelines!
