Sidelines: Let the tournament begin

June 28, 2019

On Friday, the United States will play the host country, France, in the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup. Whoever wins this game will be the favorite to win the World Cup crown.

These are the best two teams in the competition. I wish this was the final, but it didn’t work out that way. In order for the U.S. to win, their offense has to capitalize more on their chances to score goals because those chances won’t be coming as frequently as they have in the other games. France has a very productive offense as well, so the US defense is going to have to play their best game of the tournament so far.

NBA free agency officially starts on Sunday at 6 p.m. I will be quite excited when this happens because there are so many rumors on ESPN everyday, even I can’t keep everything straight. I hope the 76ers can take advantage of their last two great seasons and land a significant free agent. If that happens, I think they can make the NBA Finals next year.

Try to stay cool out there this week and have a happy, safe Fourth of July!
