SnapBack Custom Apparel officially celebrated its grand opening Oct. 4 on Route 9 in Harbeson.
This local business specializes in screen printing, embroidery, custom patches, laser engraving, and providing personalized designs for businesses and individuals across Sussex County. The owners are passionate about supporting small local businesses and offer low minimum order requirements. The process is simple and straightforward: a customer requests a quote online, gains approval, goes through actual designing, then physical production and delivery.
“Just the amount of businesses in Sussex County, the entrepreneurs, we want to be able to provide them with apparel and whatever else we can to make them look professional and successful,” said owner Georgia Hammond.
“We try not to say no to the small businesses, because they’re just starting out,” said owner Chris Lopez. “A lot of businesses go online, and they have minimums, and we’re trying to make it easier for that.”
SnapBack Custom Apparel began as a small endeavor during the pandemic. After spending more than 25 years in the screen-printing and production industry, Hammond decided to use her experience to start a business of her own alongside Lopez. Together, they began creating custom apparel from their garage. As demand grew, the duo expanded their services and officially opened their own storefront.
“It started out as a small, part-time business out of the garage, mostly doing a lot of T-shirts and then hats,” Lopez said. “When we moved here three years ago, we said, let’s look for a space.”
Since opening, Snapback Custom Apparel has seen steady growth and support from the local community. Local businesses and residents have embraced the business and what it has to offer the area. Being part of the future Seashore Business Park has also allowed the business to create connections with neighboring establishments, helping each other grow and bring more attention to the up-and-coming area.
“I think everybody gives back to one another and tries to help support each other,” said Hammond. “We are all new businesses trying to grow, and each one of us I think, is doing a great job in supporting one another to be successful.”
As SnapBack Custom Apparel continues to develop, the owners hope to expand their workspace, add new/updated equipment and potentially bring on more staff. Their goal is to keep serving the local community while expanding their reach across Sussex County.
“We’re able to do whatever that is that they need,” said Hammond. “We’re willing to work with anybody to make sure that we get their brand out there and make them look professional.”
