Sons of American Legion donate to Epworth Skate Park

November 24, 2018

The Sons of the American Legion Post 5 recently donated $200 to Epworth Skate Park, which is located on the grounds of Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.

The popular skate park has just undergone a facelift that is being financed by donations such as this, but additional funds are still needed. The park was professionally repaired and repainted, and all asphalt was resurfaced by 5th Pocket Skateparks. Maintaining the surfaces at the park is necessary for safe use by local and visiting skateboarders.

To help maintain the park for the healthy enjoyment of area youth, contact James West at 302-569-7307 or go to www.eumcrb.org/sk8/ to donate online. Visit on Facebook @Skate Epworth or Instagram @skateepworth.

In 2014, the grassroots group Epworth Skate Project raised $100,000 from supportive community members to build the park on land generously donated by Epworth UMC. Internationally recognized builder Evergreen Skateparks, along with 5th Pocket Skateparks, was hired to create the quality park. The Epworth Skate Project includes volunteers from the church and skate community, and relies on donations from events and Skate Days at the park.
