The Delaware Southern Chorale performed In Her Own Words: A Celebration of Women Composers, Lyricists, and Poets May 10 at Epworth United Methodist Church near Rehoboth Beach. The event celebrated female musicians and performers whom, for far too long, were silenced.
This evening’s performance was dedicated to one of the founding members of the Southern Delaware Chorale, Beth Howlett, who died in Feburary. One of her last wishes was for the chorale to perform two iconic selections that influenced her life, “How Lovely is the Dwelling Place” from the Brahms Requiem and “Lacrimosa” from the Mozart Requiem.
