Sposato Irrigation team cleans up Lewes Canalfront Park after storm

February 8, 2016

A team of Sposato Irrigation employees hauled over three tons of trash and other debris from Lewes’s Canalfront Park after winter storm Jonas. “I was watching all the storm damage on TV and decided to try to help,” said Sposato Account Manager Jeff Timer. “So we called the City of Lewes and asked where they needed help.”

Canalfront Park had been flooded and was strewn with sea grass and other trash. The Sposato crew went to work, filling 28 large garbage cans with wet debris, as well as lumber, decking, paint cans and a couple boat seat cushions.

“The events associated with winter storm Jonas left the city with an immense cleanup job,” said Lewes Mayor Ted Becker. "Thanks to the efforts of Sposato Irrigation, our cleanup process is well under way, and our Streets Department personnel have been better able to attend to their regular obligations.

"When disaster strikes, the volunteer efforts of area companies and individuals can make a tremendous difference in the recovery process. On behalf of the residents of Lewes, I thank Sposato for their assistance with our cleanup. It is this spirit that makes Lewes such a great community.”
