Sposato Landscape renovates playground for special needs kids
Sposato Landscape recently donated materials, gardeners and equipment to renovate the playground surface for special needs kids in Milford. Nurses ’n Kids Medical Day Care provides parents with medical and therapeutic care for special needs children in an environment where children can grow, thrive and be accepted for their uniqueness.
The day care’s playground was old and in need of repair. It had a rubber surface made of recycled tires that was cracked, worn and dirty. “My nephew attends the daycare, and my brother-in law asked if we could help out,” said Sposato Account Manager Chris Musser. ”I asked Tony [Sposato] if we could help and he said `Absolutely.’”
Sposato donated 17 yards of topsoil, a crew of six gardeners and earth- moving equipment to complete the work. Murray Sod of Selbyville donated the sod for the playground.
“It’s wonderful,” said Stephanie Smith, child-life teacher at Nurses 'n Kids, about the new playing surface. “The playground surface before was gross. The surface was made of old tires and all the kids came in with tire stains. Now they’re coming in with grass stains, which is a lot better. We’re very grateful to Sposato for their generosity. The kids love it.”
“It feels good to help these kids,” said Musser.
