St. Mark’s Episcopal Church to host English tea April 9

March 20, 2016

St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Millsboro will host its annual English tea at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 9. Men and boys are welcome.

In years past, the tea has had various themes. There was the ladies tea, the princess tea for little girls and the king’s tea, which was a ladies tea with a Christian theme. While all were successful in their own way, none of them would have seemed welcoming to men or boys.

It is time to change that perception, and this year the tea will be simply an English tea. Men of all ages will be welcome and are encouraged to attend.

It will not be like the Georgetown Oyster Eat, but there will be good food and a guarantee that the time invested will earn lots of points with their ladies. Men, to be on the safe side, should clean up with a jacket, but Downton Abbey formality is not necessary.

As always, women of all ages are invited, and this is an excellent opportunity for a generational get-together and dress-up. Entertainment will be by Take Two, and there will be a silent auction. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is at the intersection of State and Ellis streets in downtown Millsboro. For tickets and more information, call 302-934-7978 or 302-934-7927.
