State and local leaders recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month

November 3, 2025

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition extends heartfelt gratitude to Delaware’s state and local leaders for their continued support and recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Gov. Matt Meyer, Rehoboth Beach Mayor Stan Mills, Wilmington Mayor John Carney and New Castle County Executive Marcus Henry each played an important role in shining a light on breast cancer awareness and the ongoing need for early detection, education and support for those affected.

Meyer, Mills and Carney each issued official proclamations recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Delaware, Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington, respectively, highlighting the importance of community awareness and prevention. Henry hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness flag-raising ceremony in New Castle County, symbolizing unity and hope in the fight against breast cancer.

“DBCC is incredibly grateful for the leadership of our state and local officials,” said CEO Francesca Vogel. “Their recognition and participation amplify our mission to increase awareness, encourage screenings and remind Delawareans that early detection saves lives.”

Throughout October and beyond, the coalition continues its mission to provide lifesaving outreach, education and support services to individuals and families across the state affected by breast cancer. With the support of community leaders, partners and advocates, the coalition remains committed to ensuring no one faces breast cancer alone.
