State of Emergency extended for another month

August 5, 2020

A State of Emergency declaration in place since the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic was extended for another month Aug. 5 by Gov. John Carney.

“The precautions you’re taking are working. We are beating COVID-19, but we can’t let up. This virus is still out there, and it can cause serious illness,” Carney said in a press release. “We know from public health experts that following basic health precautions is the best way to prevent community spread. Wearing a face mask in public settings is still required by this State of Emergency declaration.”

Carney added that residents should wash or sanitize their hands frequently, keep distance from those outside their own household, and get a COVID-19 test so they can know their status.
