From gummy bears to chocolates, Sugar Baby Boomers, a new candy shop in Millsboro, is set to start a new, sugar-free way to enjoy sweets.
Owner Donna Gibbs got the idea from her family growing up. “My father had diabetes, and he had a sweet tooth like you wouldn’t believe,” Gibbs said. “It was so hard to find anything for him in the markets. There’s a lot of candy stores in this area, but there’s maybe three choices for sugarless candies.”
Gibbs has set out to give those who are not able to eat sugar a place to enjoy an array of different candies and treats, even pets, with sugarless dog treats available. There will also be a collection of candy dishes, crystals and nautical gifts.
“While I want to provide candy for everyone, my heart really goes out to the juvenile diabetics. I can’t imagine children not getting candy on Halloween. I want to make that a possibility for the future,” Gibbs said.
Sugar Baby Boomers is located at 32783 Long Neck Road in the Leisure Point Shopping Center and can be reached at 302-260-7271.
