Summer volunteers needed at Food Bank Milford facility

June 18, 2025

With schools closed for summer break, thousands of Delaware children lose access to free or reduced-price meals, placing additional strain on already tight food budgets.

To help meet seasonal needs, the Food Bank of Delaware is actively recruiting volunteers to assist in its facility at 102 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford. Individuals and groups are welcome.

“Summer can be a stressful time for families who rely on school meals to help keep their children nourished,” said Cathy Kanesfsky, Food Bank of Delaware president and CEO. “We simply cannot do this work without our incredible volunteers. Whether you have a few hours to spare or are looking to make a consistent impact, we welcome your help.”

Opportunities include sorting donations, building meal kits and packaging produce; helping neighbors as they select groceries in the healthy pantry, along with restocking shelves and creating a welcoming experience; and lending a hand in the 3.5-acre garden, weeding, harvesting, washing and packing fresh produce that goes directly to the food pantry.
