Sussex County Council cannot, in good conscience, ignore the overwhelming evidence of increased traffic that will result from the proposed Atlantic Fields development. To do so would be to disregard the very real safety and quality-of-life concerns of the residents who live near and travel these roads every day.
Our infrastructure is already stretched beyond capacity, with Route 24 and surrounding roadways facing daily congestion and frequent accidents. Adding another large-scale development without proper improvements will only worsen these conditions and place the community at risk.
If county council chooses to overlook this critical issue, it will send a clear message that the voices of the people they serve mean less than the interests of developers and the lure of the almighty dollar. Sussex County residents deserve responsible, data-driven decision-making, not decisions that come at the expense of public safety and trust.
