Sussex County Habitat for Humanity held its Second Annual Winter Reception Feb. 19 at the ReStore outside Lewes on Route 9.
The goal of the event was to show the connection between donating and shopping, a mission seeking to put God’s love into action.
Habitat brings people together to build homes and hope. In Sussex County, one in seven people is paying more than 50 percent of income on housing. Habitat is working to combat this issue, and is helping people achieve the American dream of homeownership.
Habitat renovates and sells homes affordably. To date, ReStore has generated $1.1 million in funds that went directly into its housing work. This year ReStore will build two homes from the proceeds of the store.

Sussex Habitat donators and buyers (l-r) Judd Malone, and Dionnisia and Rick Coffman socialize at the event.

Pausing for a photo are (l-r) ReStore Assistant Manager Will Farrell, and volunteers Sue and Jerry Kinchy.

Volunteers (l-r) Senior Volunteer Bob Roche, ReStore decorator and designer Rosemary Lilly, Jenk Davis, and Barbara Pitman gather for a photo.

Happy for the great turnout at the event are (l-r) ReStore Manager Cathy Basenese, volunteer Scott Anthony, and Sussex Habitat Executive Director Kevin Gilmore.
