Tammy Tyndall Workman, County Bank retiree

August 8, 2022

Tammy Tyndall Workman, 63, of Georgetown, went to be with the Lord and her other predeceased family members Friday, Aug. 5, 2022.

Tammy was born May 16, 1959, to Sam and Lynn Tyndall.  She was a great athlete and could play almost any sport on a competitive level.  Her favorite and best sport in high school was softball which she continued to play into her early 50s.  Upon graduation from high school, Tammy began her career in banking, followed by helping to manage her family’s business, Tyndall’s Patio Furniture.  When the family sold the business, Tammy worked for County Bank, where she opened the Lewes location as branch manager and was later promoted to senior vice president of Human Resources.  After retirement from County Bank, Tammy kept the books for the family farm.  Her work ethic and dedication to every task were truly admirable.

She loved decorating, which you could tell when you visited on any holiday.  At Christmas, every room had a certain theme which brought her, the family and many others much joy.

Tammy was most passionate about spending time with her family and doing things for others.  The apple of her eye was her grandson, Knox.  She always enjoyed listening to music and spending time in the shop with family and friends.  When Tammy walked into a room, she lit it up with her smile, outgoing personality, and her kindness.

She will mostly be remembered for her selfless ways.  Her willingness to always put others first was a special and contagious quality, which made a lasting impact on friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Tammy is survived by her husband of 34 years, Mark; son, John Gordy and fiancée Marissa Britton; daughter, Samantha Lougheed and husband Kevin; brother, Sammy Tyndall and wife Kim; sister-in-law, Alta Gailer; brother-in-law, Chuck Workman; grandson, Knox Lougheed; and beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge and give a special thanks to all of those who were there for Tammy throughout this journey.

A visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14, at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown.  A Celebration of Life will take place at 2 p.m. in the chapel.

In lieu of flower contributions in Tammy’s memory, donations can be made to Lung Cancer Research Foundation, participate.lcrf.org/goto/Tammy_Workman.
