Theodore F. Thompson Jr., a hard worker

August 6, 2021

Theodore F. Thompson Jr., 38, of Georgetown was born Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1983, to Theodore and Stephanie Thompson, and passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021.  Teddy attended school in the Sussex Central School District and was involved in many sports throughout his school career. Football and wrestling were his favorite sports.  He was state champion in 1999 and runner-up in 2000.

Teddy was our world.  He always kept us on our toes.  His father was known as “The Great One” and Teddy was called “The Golden Child” by his dad. During his life, Teddy knew that his parents loved him tremendously with all their hearts.  He knew if he went to mom and if she said no, good ole dad would do it for him.  He was a hard worker and was employed at Murphy Steel Inc.  He had many other jobs as well.

Teddy leaves behind three beautiful children.  Many of his most cherished moments were spent with them, TJ, cutting up trying to get him to laugh, Thomas, taking nature walks through the woods, and Little Miss Tori, playing baseball.  Teddy would always say, “Boy, that girl can hit a ball!”

Teddy was preceded in death by his father, Theodore F. Thompson Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Theodore E. and MaryAnn Thompson; one aunt, Julia Turner; one uncle, Charles Allen; cousins, Lisa and Ashley Thompson and Payton Campbell.

Teddy leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Stephanie Y. Thompson-Morris; stepfather, David Morris of Georgetown; three children, Theodore F. Thompson II (TJ), Thomas Thompson and Tori Thompson, all of Millsboro; two grandchildren, Jaxson and Tayghen Thompson of Millsboro; six uncles, Joseph Thompson (Tammy) of Lincoln, Elmer Norwood (Ann) of Lewes, Evans Norwood of Harbeson, Mervin Norwood (Ethel) of Millsboro, Gregory Norwood (Elizabeth) of Milton and Jeffrey Allen of Milton; eight aunts, Mary Jane Campbell and Wanda McGraw of Long Neck, Julia (Herman) Jackson of Georgetown, Gloria Norwood, Grace Norwood and Yvonne Johnson, all of Lewes, and Mary Parker of Milton; and his godmother, Margaret Christian of Ocala, Fla. Teddy also leaves to mourn his loss, cousins Rebecca Thompson of Milford, Crystal Thompson of Lewes, Phillip James, Haley, Allison, Kyle, Cora Colburn and Michael Gibbs; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The service to celebrate his life will be Sunday, Aug. 8, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, at noon, with a viewing two hours prior.  To offer words of comfort or sign the guest book visit www.benniesmithfuneralhome.com.  Professional services entrusted to Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Millsboro.
