Titans take care of business in ESBL

The Georgetown Titans defeated the Tri-County Twins 2-0 July 28 in Millsboro to finish their season at 11-0 in the Eastern Shore Baseball League.

The Titans led the league in 18 of 24 categories. Former Sussex Central all-star DJ Long led in hits (18), batting average (.529) and doubles (six). Former Cape standout Diaz Nardo led in on-base percentage (.607), slugging percentage (.739) and on-base plus slugging (1.346). Matt Damion led in home runs with two and RBIs with 14. Trey Mears led the league with five stolen bases and 37 plate appearances per strike out.

Milford grad and Salisbury player Brock Hilligoss led pitchers with an ERA of 0.47, strikeouts (24), strikeouts per game (11.2), walks per game (0.5), walks plus hits per innings pitched (.600) and strikeouts to walks ratio (24).

Noah Covington led in victories with four, appearing in seven games.

“It’s a fun league to play in,” said Nardo. “It’s great to play with and against former and present college players.”
