Two new films open Oct. 1 at Cinema Art Theater

September 29, 2021

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present two new films starting Friday, Oct. 1.

“Falling for Figaro,” a romantic comedy from award-winning director Ben Lewin (“The Sessions,” “The Catcher Was a Spy”) is set in the world of opera-singing competitions. A brilliant young fund manager named Millie quits her job and leaves her long-term boyfriend to fulfill her dream of becoming an opera singer – in the Scottish Highlands. She begins taking lessons with a renowned but fearsome former opera diva, and then she meets Max, another student who is training for the same contest. The competition between Millie and Max gradually evolves into something different and deeper.

“In Balanchine’s Classroom” is an illuminating documentary that takes viewers back to the glory days of a groundbreaking choreographer’s New York City ballet years. Through the remembrances of George Balanchine’s former dancers and their quest to fulfill the vision of a genius, this film will enlighten the audience about the man known as the father of American ballet.

Admission is $8 for members and $11 for nonmembers. Patrons can find complete listings of screening dates and times, and purchase admission online at rehobothfilm.com. If seats are available, entry can be paid at the theater starting 30 minutes before screenings.
