USPS considers relocating Nassau post office

April 30, 2021

The U.S. Postal Service says it is looking into moving the existing Nassau Post Office to a larger location within the 19969 ZIP code.

In a release sent out April 30, the USPS said the lease for the existing location will soon expire, and the facility has outgrown that location off Route 1 and Savannah Road near Lewes.

Melissa Lomax, USPS spokeswoman, said the organization proposes moving to a building that is about 1,500 square feet and has 10 parking spaces.

“We will continue to conduct our ongoing operations in a new facility,” she said in a statement. “The proposed new facility will maintain the same level of service.”

If the reestablishment is approved, Lomax said, postal retail services will remain in the community at a different physical location within the same geographical ZIP code area. There will be no changes to mail delivery, customers’ addresses or post office boxes as a result of this reestablishment, she said.

Retail services will continue at the current site until the new location is ready, she said.

No public meeting will be held, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, she said.

Lomax said residents are invited to send comments within the next 30 days to:
