Veterans pay no entrance fee at botanic gardens Nov. 8
Ray Sander, Delaware Botanic Gardens at Pepper Creek president, announced all veterans showing their military ID cards will be admitted free Saturday, Nov. 8, in appreciation of their military service to the country.
Also earning free entry that day will be other guests who bring canned food donations. Sander said, “We are thankful for all who have served our nation in military uniform, and we also thank those in our community who recognize the food insecurity needs of our neighbors in Sussex County.”
Sander said fall harvest decorations, including sculptures of forest creatures along the Woodlands Discovery Trail, will remain on display through Sunday, Nov. 23, the DBG season closing date.
Sheryl Swed, DBG executive director, said, “As we approach the Thanksgiving holidays, we are thankful for the generosity of our guests who will donate food for those in need. Now until we close, we have a 20% off sale in the gift shop on most items, including gifts made by local artisans. This has been a wonderful 2025 season, and we thank all who have visited and supported the gardens this year. We look forward to seeing you next spring when we reopen March 19.”
Stephen Pryce Lea, DBG director of horticulture, said, “I want our friends to know that the gardens are now in their full fall glory. Come stroll through our 11 gardens and bring the whole family.”
Delaware Botanic Gardens, located at 30220 Piney Neck Road, Dagsboro, is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday to Sunday. It will close for the season at 4 p.m., Nov. 23.
