Watercolor for Beginners class with Anne Buck online May 29

Milton Arts Guild will host Watercolor for Beginners with Anne Buck from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, May 29, online via Zoom. Class fee is $15.

Participants will paint a Grecian doorway in this session focusing on painting leaves and flowers, and casting shadows.

Supplies needed include several 8-by-10-inch pieces of 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper, round watercolor brush size 6 or personal preference, pencil drawing (image provided), and the following colors: Cad Red, Cad Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, Yellow Ocher, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue and Sap Green.

If participants do not have these colors, they can select a red, a yellow, two blues (light and dark), and a brown. A water container with water and paper towels will also be needed. Art supply online vendor information is on the arts guild website.

Anne Buck is an award-winning watercolorist who loves the luminosity and translucence of watercolor. Design and creativity have been infused in her education, with a bachelor’s degree in ornamental horticulture and landscape design, and a master’s degree in biology education.

In her working career, she used her design skills as a conservationist for erosion and sediment control, as an office manager and draftsman for Jennifer Thompson Architects, and as a science teacher for Cape Henlopen School District.

She is a member of the International Watercolor Society, Delaware Watercolor Society and Rehoboth Art League, and is past president and current education director of the Milton Arts Guild.
