The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is always on a roll, but on July 24, it was also on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry.
The iconic 27-foot-long vehicle made a grand entrance aboard the MV New Jersey at the Lewes terminal around 7:15 p.m.
BBQ Bridgget and Relishing Riley, known as Hotdoggers, were in the cockpit for the Wienermobile’s latest trip on the ferry.
Even though it is a hot dog on wheels, the Wienermobile received a hero’s welcome.
Passengers waiting to drive on the ferry jumped out of their cars for selfies. One of Delaware River and Bay Authority’s K-9 officers and his dog posed for pictures.
The Wienerrmobile has been around since 1936. Oscar Mayer now has six Wienermobiles that travel the country year-round.
The Wienermobile will be at the Weis Market in Millsboro from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, July 26; Weis Market in Millville 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 27 and at Weis Market in Lewes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 28.
Home2 Suites in Lewes is hosting Wienerpalooza from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 28. The celebration will include activities for kids and, of course, free hot dogs.
