The Women's Club of Milton awarded a $3,000 scholarship to each of four local high school women during the club's annual installation luncheon.
The first recipient, Ashley Alvarez Chavez, a 2025 graduate of Sussex Academy, will be attending the University of Delaware this fall. Because she is interested in health and environmental challenges in today’s world, Ashley plans to pursue a degree in biology. After college, she hopes to attend medical school, studying to become a pediatrician.
The second scholarship winner is Marissa Mummert, a Cape Henlopen High School graduate who will be attending the BS Aviation Management-Flight program at Florida Institute of Technology. While she is earning her flight hours, Marissa plans to work as a flight instructor. She often can be seen training at Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown.
Carly Favoroso, also a Cape graduate, will attend East Carolina University. She plans to become a musical theater performer, minoring in dance/music therapy for kids with intellectual disabilities.Throughout her high school years, Carly has been active in various community service organizations that support individuals with intellectual disabilities, such as Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders, aka SHINE, Best Buddies and the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware.
The fourth recipient, Macie Bowen, a Cape graduate, will attend the University of Delaware. She intends to pursue a career in a biomedical engineering-related field. In high school, while taking AP classes, Macie completed 100 hours of community service by volunteering at nursing homes and school events.
The Women's Club of Milton congratulates the four scholarship winners and wishes them well with their studies.
