Yoga and Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra classes offered weekly

October 25, 2017

Kriplau-certified yoga instructor Renee Kinney is now teaching at Rehoboth Massage and Alignment, 19633 Blue Bird Lane, Unit 7, Rehoboth Beach. Classes are held at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, and are open to men and women.

Kinney is passionate about yoga and its power to change and transform lives on a physical, mental and emotional level. Those who have never practiced yoga may rest assured that anyone can learn and progress. Beginners are very encouraged about the body's ability to adapt to the poses.

She blends different types of yoga into one session. Yin uses passive muscles of the lower body and longer hold times to open myofascial tissue. She believes yin is the best companion for all of life stages from adults to seniors. All classes are adapted and led in response to a student's particular needs. Her classes can be a mixture of many styles of yoga: yin, yang, gentle, restorative, vinyasa flow, breathwork and vipassana meditation.

Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra, a practice of deep restorative rest, is offered at 7 p.m., Mondays. This practice provides deeper levels of inner peace and health than one would imagine possible. There is nothing required of the student but to lie down and listen. It is an antidote to modern life, since most agree stress can bring on a majority of illnesses. It calms the autonomic nervous system and supports restful sleep.

The cost is $20 a class, 25 percent discount for a pack of 5 and 35 percent for a pack of 10. For more information, call 202-631-6196 or go to massageandalignment.com.
