The Flame in the Wood

December 30, 2016

The sky on December 19, 2016 was dynamic, we were in between a couple of weather fronts, one warm, then windy, then rain, then the wind laid down, and then it got cold. This time of year when I leave the office around sunset, it is pretty clear if there will be a scene to capture. We are lucky because the Nassau Valley Vineyards maintains a natural setting (fighting back the encroaching construction.) There is a tree nursery there, (which I think has just become a forest because I think they are pretty much too grown to dig for planting) and it is very interesting due to its lines and structure, it makes me think of that field in Europe that was once used to grow walking sticks, but then went fallow and then the trees just grew. (Look it up! It’s neat!)

The two hills of grass are always useful (to block out certain nearby buildings). Hills are something that doesn’t really occur here in the coastal flatland. So it’s always fun to walk or drive over there to get photographs. The sunset kept changing and I missed a couple scenes, however I found this growing flame in the wood. So I worked it, about 150 times. In my rush to get out of the house in the morning I only had one body & one lens, - so it would have to do. And it did, seems people are enjoying this image on my Facebook page. I am sure glad I stopped my running around last night and took time this morning to post it.

Mother nature is really talking these days. I hope that everyone can get out and enjoy this strange, unusual, warmer than usual winter weather. Even if you don’t take a photo, or even get out of your car or house, please find something beautiful to stare at this new year.
