Calvin C. Adams, retired truck driver

Calvin Coolidge Adams, 90, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, April 15, 2017.

He was born in Laurel, son of the late John E. and Bertha (Morris) Adams.

He was a truck driver for 40 years and retired from O.A. Newton in 1981 due to disability. He was a life member of the Georgetown-Ellendale VFW Post 2931, the Landing Craft National Association, and was a member of Franklin Lodge 12 AF & AM. Prior to his wife's passing, Calvin enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter.

Mr. Adams was a Navy veteran serving during World War II and Korean War time, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of quartermaster first class in 1952 and serving on the USS Tanager.

In addition to his parents, Calvin is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jane (Bailey) Adams; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Bundick; along with several siblings.

Calvin is survived by four children, Donald C. Adams and wife Kathy of Milford, Calvin J. Adams and wife Marcia of Maryland, Sharon L. Rust and husband Gary of Dagsboro, and Donna L. Bundick and husband David of Georgetown and Florida; seven grandchildren, Katrina Gill, Jerry Adams, Patrick Adams, Toni Koontz, Abby Adams, Christopher Adams and Joshua Niblett; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Dale Adams of Ellendale; and two sisters, Grace M. Byrd and Martha M. Landon, both of Milford.

A memorial service will be held at noon, Friday, April 21, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
