Mildred V. Bromwell, loved Boston Terriers

Mildred V. Bromwell, 95, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away at her son's home, surrounded by her family Saturday, July 29, 2017, after a short illness.

She was born and raised in Newark, and a graduate of Newark High School. Mildred and her husband Charles J. Bromwell eventually moved to Rehoboth Beach, where they became lifelong residents.

Over her years Mildred enjoyed bowling, country dancing, classic country music, especially George Jones, sitting on her porch doing puzzles and playing solitaire. She also enjoyed going to the casinos with her friends. Mildred was known for her love of Boston Terriers.

Mildred was predeceased by her parents Henry and Eva Culley; her sister Emily; her husband Charlie in 1985; and her son Ronald in 2004.

She is survived by two children, Pat Messerknecht (Fred) and John (Kim); six grandsons, Jason (Meredith), Keith, John Jr. and Dillan Bromwell, and Anthony (Terri) and Chris Casarino (Matt); one stepgrandson Brian Foraker (Jessica); four great-granddaughters and two stepgreat-granddaughters.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4, at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
