The Rehoboth Art League in Henlopen Acres will blossom with the works of 250 young artists at the 22nd Annual Young at Art opening reception set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 17. Awards will be presented at 11 a.m.
The exhibit features teacher-selected artwork created by students in elementary, middle and high schools in Sussex County. In all, 25 public and private schools are represented. Each art teacher has chosen and prepared student works for the exhibit that will be judged and awarded with ribbons, cash and scholarships.
In addition to a Best in Show Award and awards of excellence prizes, one promising student from each school and outreach site will be honored with a James Kenneth Derrickson Scholarship which provides a year’s worth of selected Rehoboth Art League classes. Four promising young middle school artists will receive a Picasso O’Keeffe Scholarship to be used toward art supplies or classes.
This year’s exhibit will be on view through Sunday, April 1, in the Corkran and Tubbs galleries. For more information, go to www.rehobothartleague.org.
