Worcester Prep students spread cheer on World Smiles Day
October 18, 2018
Worcester Preparatory School celebrated World Smile Day Oct. 5. The yearly event was initiated by commercial artist Harvey Ball, who created the smiley face symbol in 1963.
WPS Counselor Kathy Roberts orchestrated the schoolwide celebration to promote acts of kindness and cheer to make people smile. Student ambassadors welcomed everyone at the door with smiley face stickers. Teachers creatively incorporated smiles into their daily lessons, ranging from measuring smile widths in science to painting rocks with inspirational messages in Spanish class.
