Letter: Post Baseball Seasonal Disorder has become a local problem

November 23, 2018

Notice neighbors suffering from PBSD?  Post Baseball Seasonal Disorder is a common, temporary condition that appears every autumn.

Symptoms include: a feeling of emptiness in the evening, between 7:10  and 10:30 p.m.ish; irritability about birds and insects, in particular, orioles and gnats; envy at the sight of red socks; unusual annoyance at any mention of brave men from Atlanta; restless sleep, mumbling about hitting hard and running home; endless talk about next year.

If you recognize such behavior in someone you know, best to leave the sufferer be. The only real cure for PBSD comes in the spring.

Early signs of recovery include anticipation of aces on the mound, sluggers in the lineup and prospects showing promise.
