The eighth Firefly Music Festival, the East Coast’s largest music and camping event, is much more than music on eight stages for three days in The Woodlands near Dover Downs Hotel and Casino and Dover International Speedway.
Festival-goers participated in volleyball and other sports, meditation classes, human foosball, craft and art classes, get wet on a water slide, experience a butterfly garden and dance to their own music in a silent disco. To elevate this year’s event, AEG Presents, one of the world’s largest live music companies, made $4 million in upgrades to the venue, including a sand beach.

Danielle Kempf of St. Louis, Mo., is happy a butterfly landed on her in the butterfly garden experience in The Nook.

Lovelytheband lead singer Mitchy Collins takes the main stage with his Los-Angles-based band formed in 2016.

Mikael Temrowski, or Quinn XCII, performs on the main stage. The Detroit-based singer fuses pop, hip-hop and reggae for his own unique sound.

Reilly Ricciardi takes a photo of her friends Reese Driscoll, on top, and Jennifer Malocha, all of New Jersey.

Most people attending the festival stopped at some point to take a photo using the Firefly 2019 frame.

Michelle Weltig of Los Angeles, Calif., travels the music festival circuit making and selling lemonade.

Dominic Harrison, a British alternative rock musician, has to win the award for the most energetic performer as he performs with his band, Yungblud, on The Prism stage.

In the heart of the Woodlands, festival-goers dance to their own beat in The Thicket, a silent disco.
In The Nook butterflies are free in an enclosed garden. They were released into The Woodlands at the end of the festival.
The Brewery by Dogfish Head is among the most popular spots to take a break and some beer from Milton.
