Severe thunderstorm blows through Cape Region

July 18, 2019

The Cape Region woke up to a mess July 18, as a late night, severe thunderstorm pushed through the Cape Region about 8:45 p.m., July 17.

The storm put on a light show in the sky and drenched the ground with heavy rain. Wind may have been the biggest factor, as the storm left trees and branches across roads and trails and on top of houses and businesses.

The storm caused a power outage in Lewes. According to the Board of Public Works website, power was restored about 10:30 p.m. Other outages were reported in the area too.
