Lewes council to hold public hearings Oct. 8
Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold two public hearings beginning at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at city hall. The first is for the site development plan for the Dutchman’s Harvest workforce housing project on Savannah Road. Developer Preston Schell is seeking to build 14 multi-family buildings with 10 units in each building on about 8 acres. Of the 140 units, 42 will be sold to Diamond State Community Land Trust. The second hearing is related to changes to off-street parking requirements in the town center, town center historic and cultural/historical zoning districts. Oct. 10 hearing set on Mountaire application
Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda is a public hearing on a conditional-use application filed by Mountaire Farms of Delaware Inc. for sludge and wastewater spray irrigation on a 352-acre parcel on both sides of Townsend Road near the Mount Joy Road intersection near Millsboro. Milton water committee to meet Oct. 9
Milton Water Committee will meet at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Milton library to discuss the status of the town’s water projects.
Among the projects to be discussed are the Shipbuilders well and treatment facility, water main upgrades at Atlantic Avenue and Chestnut Street, water planning on Atlantic Street, Cave Neck Road and Sam Lucas Road and upgrades at the Chandler Street water treatment facility. The committee will also discuss rates and fees and a back-flow prevention policy.
Dewey commissioners to meet Oct. 12
Dewey Beach commissioners will hold an executive session and monthly meeting on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. Commissioners will meet in executive session, which is closed to the public, at 9 a.m. to hold strategy sessions involving legal advice with respect to potential litigation. The monthly meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Commissioners will possibly vote to accept the audit report and to refer a discussion regarding outdoor patio music at businesses to the planning and zoning commission. 14th District Dems to meet Oct. 10
The October meeting of the 14th Representative District Democratic Party Committee will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Forgotten Mile Ale House, Route 1 between Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach. The dutch treat dinner/social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting runs from 6:30 and 8 p.m. The program will feature the new CAMP Rehoboth Executive Director David Mariner.
They also plan to receive an update and comments from Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf.

Henlopen Acres board meeting set Oct. 11
The Henlopen Acres Board of Commissions has scheduled a meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 11, at town hall, 104 Tidewaters Road.
The agenda calls for discussions on rental properties, a minimum tree density ordinance and a review of audited financial statements.

Rehoboth planners meeting Oct. 11
The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission has scheduled a meeting for 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls to fill the seat of Susan Gay, former commission vice chair who is now on the Rehoboth board of commissioners. The agenda also calls for a discussion on proposed changes to the commission’s procedures and bylaws.

Rehoboth committee on trees meeting Oct. 11
The Rehoboth Beach Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Trees is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 11, in the commissioners rooms of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave.

Rehoboth to host pruning workshop Oct. 23
Rehoboth Beach, in conjunction with its Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Trees, will offer a crash course on the art of pruning at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23. Participants will have a hands-on opportunity to prune plants around city hall and in nearby parks.
Proper pruning techniques will be discussed and demonstrated. Participants should dress appropriately, with long pants, closed-toe shoes, protective eyewear and gloves are recommended.
There is no charge for this event, but space is limited. Participants must bring their own pruning equipment such as loppers, hand pruners, or pruning saws.
