Shopping Cape initiative announced

November 14, 2019

The Cape Gazette, in partnership with presenting sponsor County Bank, has announced the formation of Shopping Cape. This holiday shopping extravaganza features local businesses and retailers encouraging everyone to shop with independently owned businesses this holiday season.

According to the 2018 Small Business Economic Impact Study conducted by Econsult Solutions Inc. on behalf of American Express, 67 cents of every dollar spent at a small business stays in the local community. Of the 67 cents, 44 cents goes to the small business owner and employee wages and benefits, while the other 23 cents gets reinvested in other local businesses. Shopping local will not only provide loved ones with gifts that are one of a kind, it also strengthens the economic fabric of the community.

In addition to the joy received while shopping with small businesses in the Cape Region, local shoppers will have the opportunity to win thousands of dollars’ worth of local gift cards. Just send any receipt from one of the participating locations to ShoppingCape@capegazette.com and be entered for a chance to win a grand prize of $500 in local gift cards.

Second place will receive $250 in local gift cards and third place will receive $150 in local gift cards. Plus, each week there will be multiple drawings for a chance to win $50 gift cards. Weekly winning receipts will be placed back in the pool for the grand prize drawing. Individuals may enter as many new receipts as possible, so the more one shops small, the greater the chance at winning!

Go to www.ShoppingCape.com for details and contest rules. Receipts must be dated from Friday, Nov. 15, through Monday, Dec. 23. Winners will be announced Thursday, Dec. 26. Join in making this the strongest holiday season yet for independent businesses in the Cape Region.
