On Sunday, ironically, the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Seattle Seahawks by ascore of 17 to 9, identical to their loss back in the regular season. I knew it was going to be a tough game from the start, but it became even more difficult when Carson Wentz was forced to leave the game with a concussion.
I thought Nate Sudfeld was going to be the backup quarterback after he came back from his hand injury in the beginning of the season, but it turned out to be Josh McCown. Josh is 40 years old, but he did a pretty good job for an old guy stepping into the backup role for this game.
It was unfortunate that the Eagles injury-riddled offense (only 5 of the starters from September's offense were playing) couldn't score enough points, because the defense played very well for the entire game. Fletcher Cox played his best game of the season at his nose tackle position. He was all over the place. I wish he would’ve played like that in every game this season.
For next season, the Eagles need to improve their wide receiver corps, the defensive secondary, and their offensive line. From now on, I’ll be rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs to make it to the Super Bowl because of Andy Reid. He definitely deserves to win the Super Bowl, considering how close he was with the Eagles in the early 2000's.
So it's time to move on to other winter sports and I will be watching to see if the 76ers can make the playoffs as well as the Flyers. I think the Phillies are still another year away from being a playoff contender.
In local sports, the Cape women’s basketball team is 6 and 3 and is undefeated in the state so far this season. It looks like they will surely make the state playoffs for the second year in row. I hope their winning momentum continues. Keep it up Cape!
