Cinema Art Theater to present ‘Hillbilly Elegy’

November 11, 2020

Starting Wednesday, Nov. 18, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Hillbilly Elegy,” a drama that is a modern exploration of the American dream through three generations of an Appalachian family.

Amy Adams, Glenn Close and Gabriel Basso star in this film from Oscar-winner Director Ron Howard, based on J.D. Vance's “New York Times” best-selling memoir. J.D. Vance (Basso), a former Marine from southern Ohio and current Yale Law student, is on the verge of landing his dream job when a family crisis forces him to return to the home he’s tried to forget. J.D. must navigate the complex dynamics of his family, including his volatile relationship with his mother Bev (Adams), who’s struggling with addiction. Fueled by memories of his grandmother Mamaw (Close), the resilient and whip-smart woman who raised him, J.D. comes to embrace his family’s indelible imprint on his own personal journey.

Screening times are 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov 18; and 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov 19. Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online at rehobothfilm.com. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
